The Forensic Science Group of Our School Attendedthe 4th Conference of Silk Road Forensic Consortium (SRFC)in Kunming

On October 20-21, 2019, professor Linchuan Liao, the director of the forensic toxicology department, doctoral student Hui Jian and master student Ranran Zhang of forensic genetics in our school attended the 4th Conference of Silk Road Forensic Consortium (SRFC)in Kunming. More than 20 experts and professors in the field of forensic science from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Denmark, Poland, India and other countries attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Dr. Zhe Zhang, the secretary-general of the consortium.

For the opening ceremony, ChaoqiRuan, the deputy director of Yunnan Science and Technology Department and the director of Yunnan Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, delivered the opening speech.

Subsequently, Professor Henry C. Lee, Shuaicheng Li, Bairong Shen, Linchuan Liao, Niels Morling、Aronsen Gary、Nak-Eun Chung、Patrick Wang、Richard Li and other foreign professors shared their experience and studies in various aspects of forensicscience. In addition, the latest innovations, trends and concerns, practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in forensic science were also discussed in the conference.

At the end of the conference, doctoral student Hui Jian and master student Ranran Zhang of forensic genetics in our school and a total of 19 postgraduate students of forensic science from other universities in China conducted a PPT presentation competition. Ranran Zhang won The Best Student Presentation Award. Professor Henry C. Lee, the chairman of the SRFC and the director of Forensic Research & Training Center in United States, presented Ranran Zhang with an award certificate and Hui Jian with a souvenir medal.

This conference brought together experts and professors from all over the world in the field of forensic sciences to share new thoughts, points of view and challenges of the DNA application, forensic evidence, forensic education, and forensic standard, which would be of great benefit to individuals and the development of forensic science.
